Plush You 2009 Creatures Leave Home

The Bird Suit, Jinx and Starfield Narwhal Fish Boy have taken flight to Seattle and I miss them already! I do get attached to all of my creatures but this trio really wormed their way into my affections, they were such a pleasure to create and feel so close to my initial mental picture of them that I can declare myself a happy creature maker. It was such an honour to be accepted into Plush You and I can’t wait to see everyone’s work collected together. There have been some wonderful sneak peeks already. If you follow this link you can view a few of the submissions on Flickr. You must check out Margie Oomen’s pieces if you haven’t already, safe to say that there will be nothing else like them on display, I am in love with them all and wish I could meet them in person.

And Yay! Ninon has released the first image of her work for Plush You. Isn’t the little critter below just wonderful, my favourite colour palette, I am so tempted!

I wanted to share a little bit about my sources of inspiration with you, a strange mix I think but somehow they resonate together, for me at least: Battle of the Planets, Moby Dick, T.S. Eliot, the ocean, the stars (oh and an unconscious influence during the making of Jinx, my cat Stimpy).

** I began this post on the 4th of August, I can at last finish it off and publish it! I expect that there have been many more sneak peeks by now, do let me know if you have spotted any new creatures on the horizon. A little note about life in Lou Lou & Oscar land, I am hoping (cross fingers for me) that the dramas have played themselves out, that I will be able to free up some ‘me’ time to reconnect with my beautiful blog, flickr & etsy friends, do a little crafting and update this space once in a while. I’m not even going to announce that I am back, that I am planning a whole day devoted to email tomorrow and some new things for the shop very soon! So, what have you all been up to?

  1. seeing and feeling your presence here today has made my day and it is only half past eight in the morning. What ever else happens on this fine sunday is a bonus now. I fell in love with your plush you contributions the first moment I saw them and jinx stole my heart and made all my kitties so jealous. I haven’t told you but jinx is my “boyfriend” picture on my iphone. I have given my little plush clear instructions about plush social skills but I feel they have their own ideas. I clearly heard them whisper as I put them in the parcel , ” as soon as we get to Seattle , let the wild ruckus begin”

I am hoping to enquire what you will be having for breakfast tomorrow morning in a little missive…more then. Now I am grinning and sending love across the water.

Like you, I hope I will finally have the time to reconnect with the blogs, creations, etc. It is so frustrating when you can’t create something, isn’t it…

  10. Eerika says:

I think I’ve said this before, but it bears repeating: it’s great to have you back!
That your Plush You trio is awesome also bears saying twice, and thrice and as many times one has the chance!

And oh my, I know the difficulty of letting go of your work so well! You just get so attached to your critters that parting with them is always a little sad, even if they are going off to have fantastic adventures and to meet wonderful new people.

  11. Phyllis says:

How could you part with such worthy little souls that enchant and inspire and promise to hug and love??? They are irresistible.

So nice to see you back. I hurried over from my email to see what you were up to these days. Move slowly and breathe deeply and let your voice be heard…..sing!
